Irina Kostina, Ph.D., currently holds a lecturer’s position at The University of Iowa where she has been working for over 18 years. Prior to coming to the U.S., Dr. Kostina worked at the Moscow State University as the Head of Russian as a Foreign Language Department. She has authored and co-authored a number of books and scholarly articles that were published in Russia, the U.S. and Europe, including her book "Perspectiva" which is used in Russia, Spain, Holland and many other countries. She is also a renowned specialist in intensive Russian language teaching methodology, and she has taught various levels of Russian language proficiency and methodology courses in Russia, the U.S. (University of Iowa, Indiana University, Black Hawk College), Cuba, Italy, North Korea, Estonia and Canada. Throughout her academic career, Dr. Kostina has been awarded and participated in several major educational grants. Recently, she served as Instructional Lead on two federally funded grants with a total budget of over $400,000. In 2011, The University of Iowa awarded Dr. Kostina with a highly prestigious university-wide
President and Provost Award for Teaching Excellence in recognition of her unique expertise and extraordinary dedication to her profession.
